Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, known for his epic blockbusters Baahubali and RRR, has confirmed that actor Nani will be part of his much-anticipated adaptation of the Mahabharata.
Speaking at a pre-release event in Hyderabad for Nani’s upcoming film HIT: The Third Case, Rajamouli finally addressed the swirling speculation, stating, “All I can say is that Nani is definitely a part of it.”
While details about the cast and production timeline remain under wraps, this is the first official confirmation from Rajamouli regarding any actor's involvement in the project. The acclaimed director had previously emphasised that he would only reveal casting decisions once the script was finalised.
Rajamouli has been vocal about his vision for the Mahabharata, explaining that while the essence of the ancient epic will remain unchanged, he plans to reinterpret the characters and explore deeper relationships between them. “The Mahabharata will be told in my own way,” he said during an earlier promotional event for RRR, hinting at a more imaginative and layered take on the classic.
He also acknowledged the magnitude of the task, mentioning that it would take at least a year just to study the various versions of the Mahabharata across the country. According to him, the final product could span as many as ten parts.
Meanwhile, Nani is set to appear in HIT: The Third Case, which will hit theatres on May 1, 2025.
