He does this to his dad: Tharoor’s son surprises him with a question in New York

New York: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is leading an international outreach delegation following Operation Sindoor, found himself fielding a question from his son, Ishan Tharoor, during a press conference in Washington DC.

Shashi Tharoor appeared to be surprised when Ishan Tharoor, who is a columnist on the foreign desk of The Washington Post,  jokingly put to him that he was asking ‘in a personal capacity and mostly to say hi before you go off for your next engagement’.

As the senior Tharoor smiled, Ishan put it to him whether any country asked the delegation for evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack after the neigbouring country denied any involvement.

Ishan asked whether any ‘government interlocutors asked you to show evidence of Pakistan's culpability in the initial attacks"’.

Shashi Tharoor responded to his son, saying ‘glad you raised this’, alongside quipping ‘This guy does this to his dad’, before answering that ‘no one had any doubt’ about Pakistan’s involvement in the massacre.

Explaining further, Tharoor said that India would not have carried out military action without ‘convincing evidence’.

Tharoor, leading the all-party delegation on Operation Sindoor, visited Guyana, Panama, Colombia, and Brazil and is currently in the United States.

At the press conference at the Council of Foreign Relations in New York, Tharoor pointed to a pattern of terror attacks originating from Pakistan for 37 years with the neighbouring country denying involvement each time.

Citing further evidence for Pakistan’s involvement, he reminded that Osama bin Laden was found and killed in a compound close to an army camp in Abbottabad, despite Pakistan denied any knowledge of his whereabouts.

Similarly, he pinned down on Pakistan’s denial of involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

‘So we know what Pakistan's all about. They will dispatch terrorists, they will deny they did so until they're actually caught with red hands,’ he was quoted as saying.
