Bomb threat at Jaipur airport and CM’s office triggers massive search

Jaipur: Security agencies went on high alert on Saturday after Jaipur International Airport and the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) received a bomb threat by email claiming both sites would be “blown up within one to two hours.”

Police, CISF, bomb disposal squads, anti-sabotage units, fire brigade and civil defense teams quickly cordoned off both locations and conducted extensive searches. Sniffer dogs and CCTV footage reviews were also carried out across the airport terminal and surrounding areas.

No explosives or suspicious items were found, and officials later confirmed the threat to be a hoax.

This incident is the latest in a spate of hoax bomb threats that Jaipur has witnessed in 2025, targeting public places including schools, courts, metro stations, hospitals, stadiums and government offices.

Previous cases included the evacuation of a private school in Vidhyadhar Nagar and a major search operation at an ESIC hospital in Sodala. Mini secretariats across Rajasthan have also been targeted.

Police said this is the ninth bomb threat reported at Jaipur airport in the past two years.

On 6 June, a bomb threat email was sent to The Palace School at Jaleb Chowk. As the school was closed, the message went unnoticed until the following day, when the administration reported it to police.

On 30 May, similar threats were sent to the Mansarovar Metro Station and two courts. The Family Court was searched for nearly four hours, while Jaipur Metro Court was declared safe after about an hour of inspection.

On 13, 12 and 8 May, threats were issued to blow up the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, and on 9 May, Jaipur Metro received an email threatening to bomb both the metro station and a train following the success of Operation Sindoor. None of these threats were found to be credible.

Earlier, on 19 August 2024, bomb threats were issued to Delhi Public School in the morning and Pink Square Mall in Adarsh Nagar in the afternoon. Both locations were thoroughly searched, but nothing was found.
