Congress's woman party worker found dead, stuffed in bag in Haryana

Rohtak/Haryana: Police informed that a woman’s dead body was found stuffed in a suitcase near Rohtak’s Sampla bus stand in Haryana. The woman, identified as Himani Narwal, was a Congress party worker who had attended Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

After locals spotted the suitcase lying on the highway near a flyover next to the Sampla bus stand, they informed the police. Police arrived and opened the case to find the dead body stuffed inside. They sent it for postmortem, The Indian Express reported.

Sampla police station-in-charge Bijendra Singh said that it was a murder and they are investigating it.

“The deceased has been identified as Himani Narwal. We are contacting her family members. Further investigations are on,” TIE quoted the officer.

According to a TIE news report, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Rohtak MLA BB Batra expressed deep shock and called for an in-depth probe into the alleged murder.

“The murder in this manner…is extremely sad and shocking. This in itself is a blot on the law and order of the state. There should be a high-level, impartial investigation into this entire case, and the culprits should receive the harshest punishment as soon as possible,” TIE quoted Hooda. He demanded “exemplary action” on the case so that anyone with criminal tendencies will think a thousand times before committing such an act.

Batra said that the deceased Himani Narwal, who was an active worker of the Congress party, had participated in Bharat Jodo Yatra’s Haryana leg. He said that what happened to her was barbaric, and he appealed to the government to catch those behind the act at the earliest and punish them.
