Ghaziabad: Following the fatal shooting of prime accused Asad in a police encounter, authorities have initiated strict administrative action by serving a demolition notice to his family home in Khoda. Concurrently, the police have arrested three co-accused, including Asad’s father, in connection with the murder of eleventh-grade student Surya Chauhan.
Amid a heavy deployment of security forces, a tehsil administration team under the Sub-Divisional Magistrate affixed the notice to the main gate of Asad’s residence in Navneet Vihar. Accompanied by drum beating and public announcements via loudspeakers, officials declared that the house was built on illegally occupied land, giving the occupants a fifteen-day window to respond before demolition proceedings begin.
The local police have apprehended three individuals—Asad’s father, Nawab, alongside associates Farhan and Atif—near the Chaudhary Charan Singh Gate in Khoda, while investigations continue to locate another suspect, Sarik Mewati. According to police interrogations, the violence stemmed from a trivial dispute on May 28, when an altercation occurred between Asad and Surya over riding a motorcycle. Asad subsequently informed his father and associates about the quarrel, leading the group to conspire to teach the teenager a lesson. Investigators state that the accused cornered Surya in Navneet Vihar, where Farhan handed Asad a knife and Nawab instigated the fatal assault. Asad stabbed Surya in the abdomen before the group fled the scene, and the teenager tragically succumbed to his wounds two days later at a private hospital in Noida.
Asad, who carried a fifty-thousand rupee bounty on his arrest, was killed during a police encounter early Sunday morning. Reacting to the development, Surya’s mother expressed a sense of closure, noting that as her only child and the sole support of the family, everything had been taken from her, but knowing his killer had met his fate provided some consolation that justice had been delivered.
To support the grieving family, the Uttar Pradesh government has provided Surya's mother with an appointment letter for a contractual role as a sanitation supervisor within the Khoda municipality.
Following the unrest, the district administration launched a three-day verification and law-enforcement drive named Operation Clean Sweep in the Khoda area to verify tenants, commercial establishments, and unauthorised properties. As part of this crackdown, District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar confirmed that three local madrassas were sealed after joint teams discovered they were operating without mandatory registration from the Madrasa Board or the Minority Welfare Department.
Authorities assured that the students enrolled in these unrecognised institutions would be mapped and integrated into nearby government or recognised schools to ensure their education continues.
A tense calm currently prevails over Navneet Vihar, with several shops remaining closed as a precautionary measure while security personnel remain stationed across sensitive areas to maintain law and order. Commenting on the situation, local businessman Azad Saifi noted that the community generally supported the administration’s swift handling of the situation, though he lamented that the actions of one person had ultimately brought disrepute to the entire community.
