ECI issues draft voter list in Bihar, objections open till 1 September

Patna: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday released the draft voter list for Bihar after completing the Special Intensive Revision exercise. Citizens can now verify their names and file claims or objections until 1 September.

Voters and political parties can apply to add missing names, delete ineligible entries or correct errors in the draft list. From 1 August, the Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar, and all 243 Electoral Registration Officers across the state have begun inviting claims and objections from voters and recognized political parties.

The process will continue till 1 September, including weekends and public holidays. To assist voters, special camps will be held daily from 10 am to 5 pm at Block-cum-Anchal offices and urban body offices, including Nagar Panchayats, Nagar Parishads and Municipal Corporation zones.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said digital and printed copies of the draft voter list have been provided to all recognized political parties through District Election Officers in Bihar’s 38 districts.

A dedicated online portal has also been launched for voters to check their details. Citizens can verify their information by visiting the Election Commission’s website and entering the required details.

With the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections approaching, the ECI said the extended objection window and outreach measures aim to ensure an accurate voter list and build voter confidence in the electoral process.
