Patna: Amid demands from opposition leaders in Bihar for detailed drafts of the ongoing voter list revision, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has said that Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of all recognized political parties have already been provided with updated draft lists.
The draft rolls include the names of deceased, transferred and dual-entry electors. The ECI has directed that if any objections arise over the inclusion of a deceased elector, BLAs should inform the Booth Level Officer (BLO) with supporting evidence. Copies of the draft lists have also been posted outside polling stations to invite claims and objections from residents.
Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025, based on the qualifying date of July 1, 2025, forms were issued to all voters listed in the rolls published on June 25, 2025. These forms, along with documents, were collected from electors. BLOs, supervisors and administrative staff then carried out field visits and door-to-door verification to identify deceased voters, those who had shifted and those with duplicate entries.
At polling station number 151 in Bihar, officials identified 746 deceased electors, one transferred elector, 13 relocated electors and three double entries. In polling station number 153, out of 779 electors, 633 enumeration forms were received and 40 voters were found deceased. At polling station number 154 in the Madhubani Assembly Constituency, of 1,424 electors, 1,372 forms were received; 17 were deceased, 22 permanently shifted, eight had duplicate entries and five were absent.
The ECI has instructed BLOs to ensure records are corrected promptly based on verified objections. The last date for submitting forms for reconsideration is September 1.
According to the Commission, the number of BLAs participating in the SIR exercise includes: Aam Aadmi Party (2), Bahujan Samaj Party (74), Bharatiya Janata Party (53,338), CPI(M) (899), Congress (17,549), National People’s Party (7), CPI(M-L) Liberation (1,496), Janata Dal (United) (36,550), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (1,210), Rashtriya Janata Dal (47,506), Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (1,913) and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (270).
