Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on educational institutions owned by Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara in Tumakuru on Wednesday.
The operations are ongoing at Siddhartha Medical College in Heggare and Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology (SSIT) in Saraswathipuram, Tumakuru city.
Sources confirmed that a college near T. Begur, close to Nelamangala town, is also being raided.
The simultaneous raids commenced at 9 a.m. across all locations.
ED officials are conducting inspections, reviewing documents, and carrying out search operations.
At the SSIT campus, they arrived in three vehicles, restricting media access while allowing entry only to students with valid identity cards. Local police have been deployed to maintain security.
Further details on the raids are yet to emerge.
Several Congress leaders remain under the ED’s scrutiny over money laundering allegations.
On April 25, the agency raided premises linked to Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni in Karnataka amid accusations that he was connected to a woman accused of defrauding a jeweller of crores of rupees.
Kulkarni stated that the ED is investigating a case against him and alleged that he has been subjected to harassment by the agency for the past month.
Meanwhile, the ED is also probing the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, in which CM Siddaramaiah and his wife have been named as accused persons.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticised the ED’s actions, calling them "political vendetta".
On Friday, April 4, the ED carried out search operations at ten locations across Karnataka, including Bengaluru, in connection with a suspected Rs 90 crore scam linked to Bhovi Development Corporation.
The searches were part of a money laundering investigation into the alleged misuse of funds designated for a state-sponsored employment scheme targeting the Bhovi community.
