Hindutva mob thrashes Muslims, torches truck in Uttar Pradesh

Ghaziabad: In Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, a mob of Hindutva organisations workers thrashed a truck driver and cleaner and torched their truck, alleging transportation of beef. The incident happened on Tuesday near Amrala Village next to Bhojpur-Pilkhuwa Road near Ghaziabad of the BJP ruled state, Siasat reported.

According to two leaders of Hindutva groups Hindu Yuva Vahini and Bajrang Dal, Neeraj Sharma and Madhur Nehra, they received a tip-off about a truck transporting beef, and they brought together a mob of Hindutva workers and local villages to forcefully stop the truck near Amrala village and conducted a search to find a large amount of meat inside.

The mob vandalised the vehicle, torched it and assaulted the driver and cleaner, identified as Imran and Waseem, respectively.

Videos of the incident went viral on social media in which the mob chanted “Well done”, “Shoot the traitors”, “Down with the police”, etc., and the police themselves were around.

It is learned that the administration dispatched additional forces from Modinagar and Niwadi police stations to contain the chaos, while JCBs were used to throw dirt onto the blazing truck to put out the fire. Later, a fire brigade arrived and brought the flames under control.

According to reports, police informed that the samples of the meat from the truck had been sent to a lab for testing in order to confirm what animal it belonged to. Police took in complaints from the Hindutva party as well as those got attacked. They took the driver and the cleaner into custody.
