Kejriwal gets booked just hours before Delhi polls

New Delhi: With just hours left for the elections in Delhi, ruling Aam Aadmi Party’s chief Arvind Kejriwal has been booked over his statement that BJP-led Haryana government has been poisoning the Yamuna river. The case is over his recent allegation that the Haryana administration mixes poison in the Yamuna water before it reaches Delhi for political gains.

The FIR was registered at the Shahbad police station under sections 192 (intent to cause riot), 196(1) (promoting enmity between different groups), 197(1) (spreading of false or misleading information), 248(a) (false charge of offence made with intent to injure), 299 (insulting religious beliefs) of BNS, Siasat reported.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena was also booked by the Delhi Police on Tuesday. The case where she was named was regarding the MCC violations in Kalkaji.

Police registered three FIRs on Tuesday. When one was against the CM, the second was against some other AAP members and the third was against BJP leader Ramesh Biduri and his associate, according to Siasat.

According to the police case, AAP supporters allegedly interfered with an officer’s work at the Fateh Singh Marg, and CM Atishi, the party’s Kalkaji candidate, was with them. The two AAP leaders were charged for alleged assault of a police constable on duty.

Later, the Police also booked BJP candidates in Kalkaji Ramesh Bidhuri’s relatives, Manish Bidhuri and Ravi Dayama.

Ramesh Bidhuri and their associate were booked over violation of MCC after Atishi’s complaint.
