Kolkata: A student from Kolkata’s law college- where a student was gangraped and the accused, Monojit Mishra, was arrested- accused Mishra of molesting her two years back and threatening her with consequences, India Today reported.
It was days ago a female law student accused Mishra and two others of gang rape at the South Calcutta Law College. When the alleged incident happened on June 25, the victim approached police on June 27, and Mishra and two other accused were arrested on June 28.
In the fresh allegation, the law student told India Today that Mishra, who is a Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad leader, assaulted and threatened her during a college trip. She also claimed that around 15 girls became victims of Mishra’s perversion.
When she was asked why she did not approach the police or raise the alarm against Mishra at the time of the incident, she said that she was scared to approach the police as he threatened her family. He also has big political connections and influence, which deterred her from filing a complaint. She claimed and alleged that Trinamool Congress MLA and college board president Ashok Kumar Deb is sheltering him.
She continued that there were several complaints filed against Mishra in the past in various cases, including more instances of sexual abuse, but the police refrained from moving against him owing to his political connections.
After Mishra's arrest, some of his batchmates and contemporaries described him as a 'perpetual troublemaker' who harassed girls inside the Trinamool-run union office on the college campus on flimsy grounds, a PTI report said.
Mishra was even arrested in a case of assaulting a police officer and vandalizing a police vehicle two months ago, according to India Today.
