A contractual worker from Indore, Mohammad Javed, was arrested late Thursday night after a video allegedly showing him chanting pro-Pakistan slogans went viral online.
The incident took place in the Gandhi Nagar area. Police registered a case following a complaint from the Karni Sena, whose members located Javed, assaulted him, and then turned him over to the authorities.
In the video, Javed appears with two others in a kitchen — one of them slicing a watermelon while another is heard shouting the pro-Pakistan slogans, Indian Express reported.
The video rapidly gained views on social media, prompting members of the local Karni Sena to locate the man and physically assault him by slapping him several times.
Police later took Mohammad Javed into custody and began efforts to identify and apprehend the other individuals featured in the footage. According to a senior police official, authorities are actively searching for the remaining suspects. It was also revealed that Javed possessed three different identity cards, including two Aadhaar cards under his name, and investigators are now looking into how he obtained them.
