New Delhi: Air India’s gateway service provider, AISATS, fired four of its senior employees over a party they organised just days after the deadly Ahmedabad Air India crash. A video of the said party, which they organised at the workplace, went viral on social media, and it was after this that AISATS asked the employees to resign, NDTV reported.
It was on June 12 that the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which was flying to London, lost altitude seconds after take-off and slammed into a residential campus of BJ Medical College in Meghani Nagar, killing a total of 259 people. Only a person of British nationality, who was seated at 11A, survived the horrendous crash.
During the party incident, AISATS said that the company stands in solidarity with the families affected by the tragic loss of flight AI 171. It expressed its regret in the viral video of the party on social media, saying that the time was not appropriate for celebrations.
The company continued to say that the employee’s behaviour did not align with its values, and therefore, firm disciplinary action was taken against those responsible. It said that it reaffirms its commitment to empathy, professionalism and accountability. It added that in addition to asking to resign the four employees, the company also warned others.
According to NDTV, AISATS is a 50-50 joint venture between Air India Ltd, which is part of the Tata Group, and SATS Ltd.
