Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to go on a three-nation official tour from June 15 to 19, with visits to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday.
PM Modi will begin his tour with a visit to Cyprus on June 15–16, marking the first time in over two decades that an Indian Prime Minister will visit the Mediterranean nation. According to the MEA, “At the invitation of the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, PM Modi will pay an official visit to Cyprus June 15–16.” During his stay in Nicosia, he will hold talks with President Christodoulides and address business leaders in Limassol.
The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation and reinforce India’s broader engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union.
The second leg of the tour will take PM Modi to Kananaskis, Canada, from June 16–17, where he will participate in the G-7 Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. This will mark PM Modi’s sixth consecutive appearance at the G-7 Summit.
At the summit, he will engage in discussions with G-7 leaders, invited partner countries, and heads of international organisations on major global issues.
Topics will include energy security, technological advancement, the AI-energy nexus, and developments in quantum technologies. The Prime Minister is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event.
The final destination of PM Modi’s visit will be Croatia on June 18. “At the invitation of the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenkovic, PM Modi will undertake an official visit to Croatia,” the MEA stated. This will be the first visit by any Indian Prime Minister to the country.
During the visit, PM Modi will hold talks with Prime Minister Plenkovic and meet President Zoran Milanovic. The trip aims to bolster India’s ties with Croatia and further enhance its strategic engagement with European Union partners.
