Romance on the wheels in Delhi caught on camera, netizens seek strict action

New Delhi: A public display of romance by a couple on speeding wheels in the capital city, which was caught on camera and widely shared on social media, has stirred a heated debate on decency and road safety.

The incident occurred on July 16 on the Outer Ring Road flyover in Delhi's Mangolpuri area, which was caught on camera, showing a woman seated on the fuel tank, facing her partner, as they engaged in intimate gestures during the bike ride.

The video, originally shared by a Twitter user, quickly gained traction on social media platforms, drawing widespread condemnation from netizens who criticized the couple for their irresponsible and obscene actions.

Observant Twitter users immediately pointed out this violation of road safety regulations, with some demanding the arrest of the couple in question.

Responding to the viral clip, the Delhi Traffic Police issued a statement, expressing gratitude to the individual who shared the video and encouraging citizens to report such traffic violations through the Delhi Traffic Police Sentinel App.

The department emphasized the importance of public cooperation in identifying and discouraging such dangerous practices on public roads.

Twitter users echoed the sentiment expressed by the Delhi Traffic Police, with many calling for strict action against the violators. One user stressed the need for measures to discourage and halt such behaviour, while another suggested not only imposing fines but also considering jail sentences to deter individuals from engaging in similar acts in the future. The public outcry reflected the growing concern over the degradation of public safety and decency due to such incidents.

This recent incident follows a similar video from the previous month, where another couple was seen embracing each other while riding a moving motorcycle on NH9 near Ghaziabad's Indirapuram area.
