Two Indian nationals arrested for spying linked to Pakistan’s ISI

In two separate high-profile espionage cases, Indian authorities have arrested individuals accused of leaking sensitive national security information to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.

In Rajasthan, Shakur Khan, an Assistant Administrative Officer posted at the Employment Office in Jaisalmer, was taken into custody by the state's Intelligence Department on charges of spying. Officials allege that Khan had been transmitting classified strategic information to ISI handlers in Pakistan.

Inspector General of Police (CID Security), Vishnu Kant Gupta, confirmed that Khan had been under close observation for an extended period due to suspicious conduct.

"During the surveillance, it was revealed that Shakur Khan was in constant contact with some persons working in the Pakistan Embassy, especially Ahsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish and Sohail Qamar. It is worth noting that Danish has already been declared 'undesirable person' by the Government of India and sent back to Pakistan," Gupta said.

Following his detention, Khan was interrogated at the Central Interrogation Centre in Jaipur, where he admitted to having traveled to Pakistan multiple times with the help of Danish. During his visits, he reportedly met with ISI agents and, upon returning to India, began sending sensitive information through encrypted platforms such as WhatsApp.

Given his position in Jaisalmer, Khan had access to critical documents, intensifying national security concerns. Authorities have charged him under the Official Secrets Act, 1923. The investigation remains ongoing.

In a separate case in Punjab, the Tarn Taran Police, working alongside Counter-Intelligence Punjab, apprehended Gagandeep Singh from Mohalla Rodupur, Gali Nazar Singh Wali. Singh is accused of sharing classified military details with Pakistan's ISI during Operation Sindoor.

Investigators disclosed that Singh had longstanding links with Pakistan-based Khalistani sympathiser Gopal Singh Chawla. Their connection reportedly led to his introduction to Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs), from whom he received money via Indian intermediaries.

Authorities confirmed, “The arrested accused had been in contact with the Pakistan ISI and Gopal Singh Chawla, sharing sensitive information concerning army movements during Operation Sindoor.”

A detailed financial and technical probe is now underway to trace additional contacts and uncover the full extent of the espionage ring.
