Complaint against BJP's Rajeev Chandrasekhar over Guruvayur temple reel

Thrissur: A complaint has been filed against BJP Kerala state unit president Rajeev Chandrasekhar for filming a reel during his visit to the Guruvayur temple in Thrissur, allegedly violating a Kerala High Court directive that bans videography in certain areas of the temple. The complaint was lodged by Congress leader and High Court lawyer VR Anoop with the Guruvayur Temple Police. He claimed that the video, which has since gone viral on social media, was filmed in a restricted zone within the temple premises where the High Court has explicitly prohibited the use of cameras.

The complaint has sparked growing criticism of the Guruvayur Devaswom Board, which had previously taken a strong legal stance against filming reels within the temple grounds but has remained silent in this instance involving Chandrasekhar. The complaint also highlighted concerns about selective enforcement, noting that a similar incident occurred last year when the police filed a case against artist Jasna Salim for shooting a reel at the same location. Salim had garnered attention for presenting Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a painting of Lord Krishna during his visit to Thrissur.
