Indian delegation briefs Qatari minister on Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor

Doha: An Indian all-party parliamentary delegation led by NCP-SP leader Supriya Sule met with Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi on Monday to present India’s firm position on the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Operation Sindoor, and the country’s unified stand on terrorism.

"Today morning the multi-party delegation met HE Dr. Mohamed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, MoS for Foreign Affairs and conveyed India’s perspectives on the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Operation Sindoor and India's national consensus for zero-tolerance against terrorism," the Indian Embassy in Qatar posted on X.

"MoS Dr Al Khulaifi conveyed Qatar’s solidarity with India and policy of zero tolerance against terrorism for regional stability and prosperity," it said in another post.

The delegation, which arrived in Doha late Saturday as part of India’s international outreach, also held talks with Deputy Speaker of the Qatar Shura Council Dr. Hamda Al Sulaiti and several Qatari MPs on Sunday. During the discussions, the delegation expressed India’s national outrage over the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives.

The visit is part of India's broader diplomatic effort to highlight its fight against cross-border terrorism. The delegation emphasised that the mission represented a "united stance on cross-border terrorism" and dismissed claims that recent tensions stemmed from Operation Sindoor.

The delegation comprised prominent leaders from various political parties, including BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur and V. Muraleedharan; Congress’s Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma; TDP’s Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu; AAP’s Vikramjeet Singh Sahney; and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.

Following their Qatar visit, the delegation will head to South Africa, Ethiopia and Egypt — key geopolitical players. South Africa currently holds the G20 presidency, Ethiopia hosts the African Union and Egypt holds considerable influence in the Arab world.

The group is one of seven multi-party delegations tasked with visiting 33 capitals to brief global stakeholders on Pakistan’s alleged terror links and to clarify that "the recent conflict was triggered by the Pahalgam terror strike and not Operation Sindoor as alleged by some links".

Tensions between India and Pakistan surged after the Pahalgam attack. India responded with targeted strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Pakistan launched retaliatory attacks on May 8, 9 and 10, which were met with strong Indian responses.

Military confrontations subsided after both nations agreed to halt actions during talks between their directors general of military operations on May 10.
