Gulf railway project advancing on schedule, says GCC chief

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi said Wednesday that the Gulf railway project is moving ahead as planned, with member states working closely to meet the set timeline.

Speaking during a progress review at the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh, Albudaiwi was briefed by the Gulf Railway Authority’s Director General through a detailed presentation on the project’s current status, construction phases and coordination among countries.

He noted the solid progress made so far and credited the efforts of technical teams across the region. The railway, he said, is shaping up to be a central link between Gulf countries, supporting trade, movement and shared infrastructure goals.

Albudaiwi called on the Authority to keep up the pace and ensure that the project stays on schedule. He added that the railway will offer real benefits to people across the Gulf and strengthen connections within the region.
