The Authority for the Care of People with Disabilities has announced that the fifth annual Purple Saturday initiative will take place on July 26, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to inclusion and empowerment of people with disabilities, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Organised every year on the last Saturday of July, the initiative is held in collaboration with government entities, private sector players and nonprofit organisations. It encourages retail stores and service providers across Saudi Arabia to offer exclusive discounts and special promotions to individuals with disabilities.
Since its inception, Purple Saturday has seen significant growth, with over 3,500 retail outlets across the Kingdom now participating. The initiative has also drawn contributions from neighbouring Gulf countries, underlining its expanding regional impact.
For the first time, the authority will launch the Purple Saturday Award, recognising companies, offers and programs that excel in advancing the inclusion and empowerment of people with disabilities. The award aims to promote innovation, raise engagement, and inspire wider community participation.
The Authority affirmed that it will continue working across sectors to enhance services, build awareness and foster equal opportunities—contributing to a more inclusive Saudi society.
