Dubai grants legal protection to whistleblowers in public sector

Dubai has introduced new legal protections for public sector employees who disclose financial or administrative violations, following a decree issued on Tuesday by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council.

The decree ensures that whistleblowers cooperating with the Financial Audit Authority or revealing company misconduct will be shielded from any retaliatory actions. This move marks a significant step in strengthening transparency and accountability within Dubai’s public institutions.

The new protections aim to encourage a culture of integrity and open reporting, reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to good governance and anti-corruption measures.
