Bengaluru: In the matter of the Bengaluru IPL stampede and deaths, Karnataka Police have filed a case against the franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and DNA Entertainment, NDTV reported.

The state government informed that DNA Entertainment managed RCB’s IPL victory event while, KSCA organised it. An FIR has been lodged by the district magistrate G Jagadeesha, who was appointed by the state to probe the incident. He also said that notices would be sent to KSCA, the Bengaluru Metro, and the RCB franchise.

Jagadeesha visited the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where the stampede occurred. He inspected the gates where crowding happened, which is perceived as the root cause of the stampede so far.

Announcing that he started the investigation on Thursday, he informed reporters that he would analyse CCTV footage and other visuals from the area. He will also talk with the families of the victims, he added.

The Karnataka High Court on Thursday demanded a detailed report from the Congress-led state government regarding the tragic stampede.

Taking suo motu cognisance of the incident, the High Court registered a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and sought information on possible lapses and other critical aspects surrounding the tragedy. A division bench led by Acting Chief Justice V. Kameshwar Rao questioned the state on whether Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were followed and if sufficient safety measures were in place during the victory celebrations held at the stadium.

Meanwhile, RCB announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the 11 supporters who lost their lives in a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the team's victory celebrations here. The IPL franchise announced that a fund is being set up to assist the more than 50 people who were injured in the stampede.
