Gaza City: Oxycodone, a type of narcotic pill, has been found in bags of grain flour distributed as an aid to starving Palestinians in Gaza, the government media office in Gaza confirmed.
The death trap is being carried out under the guise of aid distribution that Israel has begun under the pretext of easing the blockade in Gaza.
Oxycodone is a painkiller commonly prescribed to cancer patients. Experts say it is an opioid that is used to treat pain when regular painkillers fail. The deadly drug was found in food kits distributed to Palestinians by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which is overseen by the Israeli military.
The government media office in Gaza also recorded the statements of four citizens who received these pills in cereal powder. The drug is mixed with flour, both powdered and unpowdered. This highly addictive, suffocating, and sometimes life-threatening drug is the most despicable form of genocide.
The Media Office alleged that this is an extension of the genocide being committed by Israel against the Palestinian people and that Israel bears full responsibility for this heinous crime. The Media Office issued a statement stating that the use of drugs as a weapon in a war against civilians is a war crime. Meanwhile, various human rights organizations and the United Nations have refused to cooperate with the GHF, accusing it of being a death trap for Palestinians and aiding Israel in its genocide in Gaza.
The UN Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA, has described the GHF as a "dangerous operation" risking the lives of Palestinians. UN human rights spokesman Thameen Al-Kheetan also condemned the weaponization of food.
The GHF began its operations in May this year after the UN reported that there was a famine-like situation in war-torn Gaza. Israeli forces have been shooting at people seeking help at such centres. So far, 549 Palestinians have been shot dead near such centres. Around 4000 people have been injured.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israel has killed more than 549 Palestinians at aid distribution points since the GHF began operations last month. Meanwhile, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the IDF has ordered soldiers to shoot unarmed Palestinians seeking aid at GHF distribution points.
