Pope Francis anti-Semitic; Israel mustn't attend funeral: ambassador

Tel Aviv: Pope Francis is anti-Semitic, and therefore, Israeli representatives should not attend his funeral, demanded former Israeli ambassador to Italy Dror Eydar. He said that Pope Francis describes Israelis as those who commit genocide.

He spoke about the children of Gaza but did not say anything about the children of Israel, Eydar alleged. He also claimed that the Pope also has a big role in spreading anti-Semitism in the world.

He went on to claim that Pope Francis was rivalled in the degree of his anti-Semitism only by Pius XII. Eydar was referring to the Pope, who led the Catholic Church between 1939 and 1958, who, according to Eydar, was “silent” during the Jewish holocaust, AL Jazeera reported.

Pope Francis was a Catholic leader who surprised the world with his stances, writes Madhyamam. He played a crucial role in the reform of the church. His unconditional apology for child abuse, sexual crimes, and the church's historical mistakes made him different. He gave representation to women in church governance. He spoke out for the rights of transgender people with empathy. He took a strong stance against war. Pope Francis called for a ceasefire in Gaza yesterday at Easter.

He said that the situation in Gaza is deplorable, and the international community must come forward to help the starving people. He also said that his thoughts are with the suffering people in Israel and Palestine.
