Former US President Donald Trump has expressed his preference for a "verified nuclear peace agreement" with Iran, stating that negotiations should begin immediately to ensure regional stability.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump dismissed reports suggesting that the US and Israel were planning a large-scale military strike against Iran, calling such claims "greatly exaggerated."
"I would much prefer a Verified Nuclear Peace Agreement, which will let Iran peacefully grow and prosper," Trump wrote. "We should start working on it immediately and have a big Middle East celebration when it is signed and completed. God Bless the Middle East!"
While advocating for diplomatic engagement, Trump reiterated his firm stance against Iran acquiring nuclear weapons. He emphasised that he wants to see Iran become a "great and successful country" but insisted that Tehran "cannot have a nuclear weapon."
The statement came just a day after he reinstated the "maximum pressure" policy against Iran, citing concerns over its alleged nuclear ambitions. The policy, first introduced during his presidency, involved severe economic sanctions aimed at limiting Iran’s nuclear activities.
