We were getting ready to attack, but India launched BrahMos: Pak PM

New Delhi: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told a gathering in Azerbaijan that India launched attacks in his country shortly before his armed forces were to attack India at 4.30 am on May 10.

Shehbaz Sharif once again publicly acknowledged Indian ballistic missiles attack that had taken place on the intervening night of May 9 and 10 targeting key places including the airport in Rawalpindi, NDTV reported.

The attack, according to him, caught his army off-guard who were planning a mission on India just after their Fajr prayers but India beat them to it.

‘On the night of May 9-10, we decided to respond in a measured fashion to Indian aggression. Our armed forces were prepared to act at 4.30 in the morning after Fajr prayers to teach a lesson. But before that hour even arrived, India once again launched a missile attack using BrahMos, and hit various provinces of Pakistan, including the airport in Rawalpindi,’Sharif was quoted as saying.

India’s Operation Sindoor targeted terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the aftermath of April 22 Pahalgam massacre that killed 26.

Sharif earlier this month told a gathering in Islamabad that at 2.30 AM on May 10 Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir called up him to inform that Indian ballistic missiles struck the Nur Khan Airbase and other places inside the country.

Following the Operation Sindoor, authorities in India said that around 100 terrorists affiliated with terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen were killed.

The Indian Armed Forces targeted nine terrorist camps with four identified in Pakistan’s Bhawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya, and five camps in PoK’s Sawai Nala, Syedna Bilal, Gulpur, Barnala, and Abbas.

In response to Pakistan’s further escalation using drones, India hit deep inside the neighbouring country’s military targets dismantling its radar installations, command and control centres, and ammunition depots in Rafiqui, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Sialkot.

In the midst of tense situation, India and Pakistan arrived at a ceasefire agreement after Pakistan reached out to Indian authorities, thus stopping military action on land, air and sea.
