Seoul: Samsung Electronics maintained its dominance in the Indian television market in the first six months of 2025, driven by strong sales of large-sized premium models, according to industry data.

Figures from global market research firm Omdia showed the South Korean company captured 23.8 per cent of the Indian market between January and June, a position it has held since 2017.

LG Electronics followed in second place with a 16.5 per cent share, while Chinese brand Xiaomi secured third with 7.9 per cent, Yonhap news agency reported.

Analysts said Samsung’s success was supported by demand for its high-end large-screen Neo QLED and OLED TVs. They noted that educational content offered through Samsung’s smart TV platform, along with popular global entertainment titles, including Korean programs, also boosted sales.

India’s total TV sales were estimated at 11.29 million units in 2024.

In a related development, Samsung announced it has integrated Microsoft’s Copilot, a generative artificial intelligence assistant, into its latest televisions and monitors to provide customized interactivity.

The company said the AI tool will be available in its newly launched devices, including the premium Micro RGB TV. "With Copilot built into the display, users can access Microsoft's powerful AI companion through a simple voice command or click of the remote, making it easier to search, learn and engage with content directly from their screens," the company said.

“Through our open AI partnerships, Samsung is setting a new standard for AI-powered screens,” said Kevin Lee, executive vice-president of Samsung’s display business. “Copilot makes it fun and easy to quickly get what you need through tailored experiences, whether you're learning something new, enjoying entertainment, tackling everyday tasks or more.”
