Tata Electronics, Bosch forge strategic pact to boost India's semiconductor ecosystem
text_fieldsTata Electronics has announced a strategic collaboration with German technology leader Robert Bosch GmbH to advance India’s electronics and semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
The partnership, formalised through a memorandum of understanding, will focus on chip packaging and production at Tata Electronics’ new facilities in Assam and Gujarat.
The collaboration aims to support Tata Electronics’ forthcoming assembly and test unit in Assam, as well as its semiconductor foundry project in Gujarat.
The agreement also includes a plan to explore local initiatives in electronic manufacturing services, particularly for vehicle electronics.
“This partnership is well-aligned with our commitment to help create a holistic semiconductor and electronics ecosystem in India, with offerings that resonate with customers around the world. Most importantly, our collaboration is yet another significant step towards creating a leadership position for the Indian electronics manufacturing sector on the global stage,” said Randhir Thakur, CEO of Tata Electronics.
Bosch, a key global player in automotive and industrial technology, views the collaboration as timely, given the surging demand for automotive electronics.
“Bosch recognises the increasing demand for advanced automotive electronics and their critical role in shaping the future of mobility. To address the growing needs and foster supply chain resilience, Bosch is pleased to foster partnership with Tata Electronics,” said Dirk Kress, Executive Vice President, Semiconductor Operations, at Robert Bosch GmbH.
This alliance is expected to bolster India's position in the global semiconductor supply chain while enhancing domestic capacity for high-end electronics production.
