Tesla India leases 24,565 sq ft warehouse in Mumbai as part of strategic expansion
text_fieldsTesla India Motor & Energy Pvt Ltd has secured a 24,565 square foot warehousing facility in Mumbai’s Lodha Logistics Park, marking a significant step in its ongoing India rollout.
According to real estate data analytics firm CRE Matrix, the lease agreement carries a starting monthly rent of ₹37.53 lakh.
The facility, situated in Kurla-West, has been leased for a five-year term from Macrotech Developers Ltd, the company behind the logistics park. CRE Matrix confirmed the details after reviewing the official registration documents.
The lease is set to commence on June, 2025, with an annual rent escalation of 5 percent. Over the full term, Tesla’s total rental outlay is expected to reach around ₹24 crore.
"Tesla's India entry is taking shape through a deliberate, multi-city rollout — from its office in Pune to flagship showrooms in BKC and Delhi-NCR, co-working presence in BKC and now a strategic warehousing facility in Kurla-West Mumbai. This 24,565 sq ft lease at Rs 153 per square feet is more than a real estate transaction — it’s a signal of intent," said Abhishek Kiran Gupta, CEO of CRE Matrix.
Macrotech Developers, listed on the stock exchange and known for its Lodha brand, has declined to comment on the leasing deal.
Meanwhile, Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy stated on Monday that Tesla appears uninterested in setting up manufacturing operations in India at this time, but is focusing instead on establishing showrooms across the country.
