FIR filed against actor Unni Mukundan over alleged assault on manager
text_fieldsKochi: Noted actor Unni Mukundan has been booked for allegedly assaulting his professional manager, police confirmed on Tuesday.
In his complaint, manager Vipin Kumar claimed that Mukundan slapped him for recording a review of a film featuring another actor.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday in the basement parking area of an apartment complex in Kakkanad.
Kumar further alleged that Mukundan used abusive language and issued death threats, according to police statements.
The Marco actor has been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 296(b) (obscene acts and songs), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 324(4), and 324(5) (both dealing with mischief), police said.
The complaint was filed after the manager sought medical treatment at the hospital.
Vipin alleged that the assault stemmed from his praise of the film Narivetta, starring Tovino Thomas.
He claimed that Mukundan visited his flat in Kakkanad on Monday morning, called him to the parking area, and assaulted him.
According to the manager, Mukundan has been frustrated over not securing new film projects after Marco and has been taking out his anger on others.
In addition to filing a police complaint, Vipin has also approached FEFKA. He has been working with Mukundan for several years.
Police stated that an FIR has been registered, and an investigation is in progress. Mukundan has yet to respond to the allegations.
