'Coolie' fever: Singapore firm gives paid leave, movie tickets to Tamil workers
text_fieldsChennai: A Singapore-based company has announced a paid holiday for its Tamil employees to watch Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated film 'Coolie' on its release day. Along with the day off, the firm is providing first-day, first-show tickets and offering each worker 30 Singapore dollars for food and beverages as part of its worker welfare and stress management initiative. The announcement has gone viral on social media, garnering appreciation from fans in India.
'Coolie' is set to release on August 14 and has already generated significant excitement. Directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj, who recently visited the Shiva temple in Tiruvannamalai to offer prayers before the release, the film has created huge buzz for several reasons. It has made headlines as the highest overseas procurement for a Tamil film to date and is expected to reach audiences in over 100 countries worldwide.
The star-studded cast includes Rajinikanth alongside prominent actors such as Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. The recently released trailer has further heightened anticipation.
The film has been cleared by the Censor Board with an ‘A’ certificate, sparking concern among some fans. Rajinikanth’s family audiences and children, who form a significant part of his fan base, will be unable to watch the film in theatres due to this adult rating, raising questions about its accessibility for all age groups.
