Cow milk is like mother's milk; we won't eat beef: Salman's father
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Salim Khan, father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and writer of legendary movies like “Sholay”, said that his family sees cow milk as a substitute for mother’s milk and they do not eat beef.
Salman Khan’s family is known for celebrating Hindu festivals, and recently they celebrated the Ganesh Chaturthi at their home, The Times of India reported.
Salim Khan made the statement on beef while having a chat with The Free Press Journal. He cited the teachings of Prophet Mohammed as the reason behind his family not eating beef.
Salim Khan, who married Sushila Charak of Hindu faith, said that his family never had beef and it is eaten by many Muslims since it is cheap. He said that some even buy beef to feed their pet dog. According to him, the teachings of Prophet Mohammed are that cow’s milk is a substitute for mother’s milk and it has benefits. Therefore, cows should not be killed as beef is forbidden, Khan told The Free Press Journal.
He further said that Prophet Mohammed has adopted good things from every religion, like eating only Halal meat, which was a habit adopted from the Jews, who call it Kosher.
“He has postulated that every religion is good and believes in a Supreme Power like we do," The Free Press Journal quoted Khan.
