Fan calls out Priyanka Chopra for choosing hot dogs over vada pav, actress says "no syllabus for being desi"
text_fieldsPriyanka Chopra has once again found herself at the centre of an online debate - this time over her food preferences.
The global star, who has seamlessly balanced her Indian roots with her life in the West, recently participated in a light-hearted “Would You Rather” interview that compared Indian street food to popular international snacks.
But her choices sparked a humorous reaction on social media.
The video that ignited the buzz featured Instagram creator Pushpek Sidhu, who reacted dramatically to Priyanka’s answers.
The moment she hesitated between samosas and empanadas, Pushpek was taken aback. He still managed to keep his cool, saying, “You know what, we listen and we do not judge.”
But things escalated quickly when Priyanka paused again while choosing between enchiladas and chicken tikka masala - and ultimately picked hot dogs over vada pav. That was the final straw for Pushpek, whose over-the-top reaction became the highlight of the clip.
Rather than ignoring the video, Priyanka showed she has a sense of humour about the whole situation. She reposted the clip to her Instagram stories and wrote, “Wow, bro, didn’t know that there was a syllabus for being desi. It’s not that serious.”
Pushpek, keeping the joke alive, responded, “I eat, breathe and sleep samosas. My entire personality is samosa. For me, it’s very serious, Priyanka Chopra.”
The playful exchange didn’t stop fans from weighing in.
One user commented, “She is not our ‘desi’ girl anymore; she is a ‘pardesi’ girl,” while another called her hot dog preference “absolute blasphemy.”
Despite the online chatter, Priyanka seems unfazed. She is currently enjoying the success of her latest film Heads of State, co-starring Idris Elba and John Cena, which is performing well on Prime Video with positive reviews rolling in.
