The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned the makers of 'Tateeree' and 'Sarke Chunar' after media reports flagged their "obscenity and vulgarity," deeming the content prima facie violative of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions.

For 'Tateeree', Badshah (singer-lyricist), director Mahi Sandhu, and producer Hiten must appear on March 25 at 12:30 PM with documents—or face legal action under the IT Act and Indecent Representation of Women Act, 1986. For 'Sarke Chunar', Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt, producer Venkat K Narayana, and director Kiran Kumar are summoned on March 24, with threats of action under BNS, IT Act, and POCSO if they skip.

Nora Fatehi distanced herself, saying she shot the Kannada version three years ago unaware of the Hindi dub's "inappropriate" lyrics, which lacked her approval; she flagged concerns but got backlash predictions ignored. CBFC clarified it doesn't certify digital content and received no application. Lyricist Raqueeb Alam said he only translated the original Kannada lyrics by director Prem after refusing, warning they'd be censored.

Separately, Badshah skipped a March 13 Haryana State Commission for Women hearing after their March 6 notice over 'Tateeree's inappropriate lyrics and school-uniform visuals suggesting minors. Haryana ordered Panipat/Panchkula police to arrest him anywhere and seize his passport; multiple FIRs are filed in Panchkula and Jind. Badshah apologized, pulled the video, and defended it as Haryanvi hip-hop "diss" culture promoting local pride, never targeting women or children.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw previously confirmed a ban on 'Sarke Chunar' in Lok Sabha.
