Nupur Sanon's fashion brand faces backlash over steep prices for "basic" outfits
text_fieldsActor Kriti Sanon's sister, Nupur Sanon, is facing online criticism after her clothing label, Nobo, was called out for its high price tags on what many social media users described as unremarkable designs.
Launched in 2024, the brand recently came under fire on Reddit, where users mocked the cost of the garments, with several calling them “basic” and overpriced.
Nobo’s pricing has sparked heated debate, particularly on Reddit where users pointed out that items such as simple skirts, crop tops, and lehengas are priced as high as ₹27,000. The website lists a Banarasi lehenga for ₹21,000 and a suit priced at ₹26,500. The western wear collection also raised eyebrows, with a skirt and crop top set costing ₹20,000 and the least expensive pair of shorts marked at ₹2,400.
Reddit users were quick to mock the brand, with one saying, “No Bo is short for ‘Nobody Bought it.’”
Another commented, “These are the ugliest clothes I've ever seen, good lord.”
Criticism ranged from questioning the aesthetic to suggesting the brand name should be extended to “Label NoboDY IS BUYING THIS OVERPRICED FAST FASHION SHIT FROM ME.”
One user even suggested, “Money laundering.”
Despite being promoted by several well-known personalities such as Kriti Sanon, Uorfi Javed, Sanjana Sanghi, and Rida Tharana, the label failed to impress online fashion watchers, many of whom expressed disappointment over the lack of originality and premium quality expected at those prices.
Nupur first stepped into the limelight with her appearance in the hit music video Filhall (2019) alongside Akshay Kumar, which was followed by Filhall 2: Mohabbat in 2021. She made her acting debut in 2023 with the Disney+ Hotstar web series Pop Kaun?.
