Los Angeles: 'Black Panther' movie director Ryan Coogler and his production company Proximity Media signed a deal with The Walt Disney Company to make a TV series based on the fictional African Kingdom of 'Wakanda'. Wakanda is renowned for its appearance in the Black Panther films. The planned five-year overall exclusive television drama series will be streaming on Disney Plus.

The Executive Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger, thrilled at the company's prospect of strengthening its relationship with Coogler, added that he looks forward to more stories from him. He said that Coogler brought iconic characters to life in a "meaningful and memorable way".
