Salman Khan receives fresh death threat via WhatsApp message
text_fieldsMumbai: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has received a fresh death threat, which was sent via a message to the official WhatsApp number of the Worli Transport Department, authorities confirmed on Monday. This threat follows a previous shooting incident exactly a year ago, when two unidentified men fired four gunshots at Khan’s Bandra residence.
The Worli police have registered a case regarding the new threat and have heightened security outside the actor’s residence at the multi-storey Galaxy Apartments. The threat message warned of an attempt to kill Khan by either storming his home or targeting his car with explosives.
This is the latest in a series of threats against the actor, particularly after his conviction in the 1998 Blackbuck shooting case. On April 14, 2024, two bike-borne assailants fired four rounds at his home, leading Salman to modify his routine and install bulletproof glass on his balcony to prevent any future attacks.
In 2004, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had claimed responsibility for the earlier shooting incident. Bishnoi, who has a long-standing feud with Khan due to the Blackbuck case, as the Bishnoi community holds Blackbucks sacred, had posted a Facebook message taking responsibility for the attack.
Bishnoi, currently jailed, has also linked his gang to the murder of Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique last year, citing Siddique’s close ties with Salman as the motive. These ongoing threats have caused Khan to limit his public appearances, but he continued to greet fans from his balcony during Eid last month, behind bulletproof glass, as a precaution against potential sniper attacks.
The actor shared a video on Instagram, where he was seen waving to his fans from the safety of his fortified balcony.
