Tanushree Dutta alleges harassment at her residence, appeals for help on Instagram
text_fieldsActress and former Miss India Universe Tanushree Dutta, who played a key role in initiating the #MeToo movement in Bollywood, has alleged ongoing harassment at her residence.
In a video posted on Instagram, the visibly distressed actress appealed for help and claimed that the harassment has continued for the past 4–5 years.
Dutta stated that she had called the police due to the recent disturbances.
"Guys, I'm being harassed in my own home. I just called the cops... I'm probably going tomorrow or the day after to the police station to launch a proper complaint. I'm not well," she said in the video.
She added that she has been unable to hire domestic help due to security concerns.
"I'm not able to do any work. My house is a mess. I can't hire even maids because they planted maids in my house. I had such a bad experience with maids coming in and stealing and doing all kinds of things," she claimed.
In the caption accompanying the video, Dutta wrote, “I'm sick and tired of this harassment!! It's been going on since 2018 #metoo. Aaj fed up hokar maine police ko call kiya. Please someone help me! Do something before it's too late.”
She also shared an Instagram Story describing disturbances in her building. “Loud noises like this and other very very loud banging noises at all odd hours for the last couple of years!! I got tired of complaining to the building management and gave up,” she wrote.
Dutta added that strangers have rung her doorbell despite a clear "Do Not Disturb" sign.
Tanushree Dutta came into national focus in 2018 when she accused actor Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her in 2008 on the sets of the film Horn 'Ok' Pleassss. The allegations led to a police investigation, but in 2019, Mumbai Police filed a B-Summary report clearing Patekar of the charges, suggesting that the complaint could have been "malicious" and "out of revenge."
Following the incident, Dutta had expressed frustration over the lack of accountability in the industry and its response to harassment complaints.
Tanushree’s sister, actress Ishita Dutta, had also spoken about the challenges her sister faced, stating in an earlier interview that police intervention in 2008 prevented further escalation when a mob attacked Tanushree’s car.
Tanushree Dutta is known for her roles in films such as Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Bhagam Bhag, and Dhol.
She won the Femina Miss India Universe title in 2004.
There has been no official response from the authorities regarding her latest complaint.
