Trolls! Cyberfraud caller tune by Amitabh Bachchan to be removed
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The pre-recorded message calling for caution against cybercrimes, in which actor Amitabh Bachchan speaks, will be removed from Thursday, NDTV reported, citing sources.
When the Centre says the awareness message is being removed because its campaign to spread information on rising cases of cyber fraud has ended, the development comes as complaints increased against the caller tune since it became an obstacle during emergency situations as callers could not be connected immediately.
"The campaign has come to an end, and therefore, the caller tune will be removed from today," sources told NDTV.
Recently, social media users trolled actor Bachchan over the caller tune, and it required him to show sharp reactions.
Under a post by the actor, a user commented that he must stop talking on the phone, meaning the caller tune voiced him must be stopped. To this, the actor replied that he was acting on the Union government’s instructions.
According to NDTV, the exchange between the two went like this: the social media user commented, “Toh phone pe bolna band kro bhay (So stop saying it on the phone)."
The actor replied, "Sarkar ko bolo bhai, unhone jo kaha humne kar diya (Tell the government, I did what they told me to do)."
The Bollywood Hall of Fame was criticized for a similar instance in the past, too. Then, during the Covid-19 era, a caller tune featuring the actor was alive, and a public interest litigation was against the caller tune in Delhi High Court. The PIL demanded to remove Bachchan’s voice from the tune, NDTV reported.
