New Delhi: Two security personnel and 31 Maoists were killed in an encounter in a deep forest in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district today, NDTV reported citing police.
A security team was carrying out anti-Maoist operation in a forest in Indravati National Park area when the encounter started.
Security forces have recovered arms and explosives from the area.
Eight Maoists were killed in another encounter with security forces a week earlier in Bijapur district.
It is reported that two security personnel have been injured in the encounter today.
Officials reportedly said the Maoists killed in the gunfight are being identified adding that more forces are being deployed in the area alongside carrying out search operations.
