Hyderabad: The Awaaz Alliance—a coalition comprising the Fraternity Movement, the Muslim Students Federation (MSF), and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI)—swept the student union elections at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) on Wednesday, February 4. The alliance secured a victory over the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the BJP.

In the key positions, Harshad Shibin NK of the Fraternity Movement was elected President, while Sonu Raj of the NSUI secured the Vice President post. The position of General Secretary went to Irfan Shajudheen of the MSF, and Haleemathu SS Adiya, also from the MSF, was elected Joint Secretary. Additionally, Ayisha Neha (Fraternity Movement) and Udita Purkait (NSUI) were voted in as Cultural Secretary and Sports Secretary, respectively.

Following the results, the Awaaz Alliance issued a statement terming the win a "historic victory" that highlights the unity of democratic student forces. The alliance stated that the students’ mandate serves as a rejection of the politics of hatred and polarization, reflecting a desire for an inclusive and egalitarian campus culture. The newly elected panel pledged to focus its tenure on academic welfare, gender justice, minority rights, and the democratization of campus spaces.
