Best politicians are those who can fool people: BJP's Gadkari courts row
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari courted controversy on Monday, saying that those who can fool people are the best politicians.
He claimed that in the field of politics, telling the truth is discouraged wholeheartedly.
“Jo logon ko sabse acchha moorkh bana sakta hai, wahi sabse acchha neta ho sakta hai (One who can fool the people is the best leader),” Financial Express quoted the minister. He also claimed that leaders who convince people by fooling them are the best ones.
He used the popular Marathi phrase- ‘Hause, Navse, Gavse’ to say that everyone has their own style and motives. He also said that the best leadership is defined by how well a person can mislead or deceive the masses.
However, on Sunday, he talked about the values of truth, citing the teachings of Mahanubhav sect founder Chakradhar Swami, reported PTI.
Positive change in a person comes from the "sanskars" (values) taught to him or her, Gadkari emphasised while addressing a gathering at the Bhavya Mahanubhav Panthiya Sammelan organised by Akhil Bhartiya Mahanubhav Parishad in Nagpur.
"Chakradhar Swami taught values of truth (satya), non-violence (ahimsa), peace (shanti), humanity (manavta) and equality (samanta). Satya is the basis of our life, and we should follow it," he said while asserting that one must spread positivity and not hurt anyone.
The teachings of the Mahanubhav sect founder Chakradhar Swami are an inspiration for all to follow in their lives. Change in a person (vyakti parivartan) is related to the sanskars (values) taught to him," he said.
