Karnataka BJP MLA announces ₹5 Lakh reward for Hindu men marrying Muslim women
text_fieldsBijapur district BJP MLA and former Karnataka minister Basangouda Patil Yatnal has declared a reward of ₹5 lakh for any Hindu man who marries a Muslim woman.
His announcement follows the brutal killing of a 23-year-old Hindu man, Gavisiddappa Nayak, in Koppal district on August 3.
Nayak, belonging to the Valmiki community, was allegedly in a relationship with a Muslim woman and was hacked to death in front of a mosque by a group of Muslim men.
The incident has sparked outrage, with the Akhila Karnataka Valmiki Nayak Mahasabha staging a massive protest on August 11, demanding strict action against the accused.
“We will continue this campaign to give Rs 5 lakh to Hindu youths who marry Muslim girls,” Yatnal stated, accusing the ruling Congress government of “protecting minorities and supporting ‘love jihad.’”
He further alleged, “The accused even made social media reels showing weapons. The person who killed the youth even flaunted a long knife on social media, but the police were restrained. We will fight until justice is served to that family. The chief minister should apologise to the people and give compensation to the victim’s family.”
The prime accused in the case surrendered along with weapons shortly after the murder. Police have arrested four individuals so far, and the investigation is ongoing.
