Srinagar: Reports of shelling and blasts conducted by Pakistan forces are arriving from Jammu and Kashmir, which is after official confirmation that India and Pakistan agreed on a ceasefire. Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah reacted to the fresh shelling and blasts, asking what the hell happened to the ceasefire.

On Saturday, following US President Donald Trump's proclamation that India and Pakistan agreed on a ceasefire, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Pakistan administration confirmed the same. Thus, the two powers have called off all military operations against each other from 5:00 pm on Saturday.

“What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!” Omar said on X.

He shared a video in another X post, which is 44 seconds long. The video shows complete darkness, and sounds of blasts could be heard.

“This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up,” he wrote on the post, along with the video.

Hours after the agreed ceasefire, brokered by the US, there were reports of multiple explosions in Srinagar.

The blast sounds triggered air raid sirens across the city, causing panic among residents. Similar scenes were witnessed in Baramulla in North Kashmir and Budgam in Central Kashmir, Hindustan Times reported.

In Punjab’s Firozpur, the district administration announced that a blackout is once again being enforced, as was done previously, the report stated.

Six persons, including a senior Jammu and Kashmir government official and a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the army, were killed and over 20 others injured as intense mortar shelling and drone strikes by Pakistan hit the Jammu region on Saturday, PTI reported, citing officials.
