Chennai: Six people riding bikes allegedly attacked K Armstrong, the president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Tamil Nadu, fatally on Friday, July 5, at his home on Sadayappan Street in Perambur, Chennai. Armstrong reportedly came under attack as he was entering his home.

The event happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. He was taken to a Greams Road private hospital. But when they arrived, they pronounced him dead. The Kolathur police are currently conducting an inquiry.

Armstrong was a councillor for the Greater Chennai Corporation in the past. Despite the BSP's lack of electoral clout, Armstrong was a well-known Dalit Ambedkarite in the state, The News Minute reported.

Thol Thirumavalavan, a leader of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and a Lok Sabha MP, has issued a statement calling for the miscreants to be arrested in accordance with the Goondas Act. His death is a great loss to the oppressed people, the MP stated, branding the murder a "cowardly act."

Upon arriving at the scene, director Pa Ranjith broke down over the heinous crime. Leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) RS Praveen also condoled with the bereaved family and denounced the murder.
