Tirupati / Andhra Pradesh: A motorbike rider had a narrow escape from a leopard that lunged at him in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati on Friday night.

The visuals from a car’s dashcam showed a leopard leaping towards the man at around 7 pm, on the Zoo Park Road in Alipiri.

The incident comes amid increasing concerns from frequent sightings of leopards in the area.

Despite the incident points to dangers posed by wild animals, authorities have not yet issued any statement, according to NDTV.

It is however reported that the Forest Department is working to avoid further encounters between humans and leopards.

Following this incident, locals reported the sighting of a leopard again on Friday night near Arvind Eye Hospital, raising concerns.

Forest officials reportedly confirmed at least three leopards were present in the area.

It is reported that 14 trap cameras and bait stations have been placed at three different locations to monitor and capture the animals.

Also, the authorities sought to clear the dense thorn bushes around Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) and Sri Venkateswara Vedic University.

The measure they believe could leave leopards without any hiding places.

Previous sightings of leopards on the Alipiri walkway and in university campuses raised concerns amid students and people in the area.
