Covid update: 2,338 new cases and 19 deaths in India

India recorded 2,338 new coronavirus infections today which brought the tally to 4,31,58,087. According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are 17,883 active cases now. India's active caseload increased by 185 in 24 hours

19 Covid-related fatalities were reported yesterday. The death toll has climbed to 5,24,630 now. "The active cases comprise 0.04% of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74%," said the ministry.

Official data showed the daily positivity rate is 0.64%. The weekly positivity rate is at 0.61%. So far, India has carried out 85.04 crore tests to detect coronavirus, and 3,63,883 of them were done yesterday. Over 193.45 crore doses of vaccine have been administered in the country. The number of people who recovered from a Covid-19 infection has climbed to 4,26,15,574.

Kerala and Maharashtra have been recording the highest rate of infections. For the second straight week, Kerala recorded the highest number of cases. In Delhi, the number of cases is declining and recorded a 14% decline from last week.
