Delhi airport sees 140 flight cancellations following Op Sindoor

New Delhi: Around 140 flights to and from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were cancelled on Wednesday due to missile strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces on terror targets in Pakistan. The cancellations, involving several airlines including foreign carriers, were a result of changing airspace conditions.
According to sources, 65 inbound flights and 66 outbound flights were affected. Additionally, 2 international departures and 2 international arrivals were cancelled throughout the day. The disruption also impacted 4 international departures, including a flight operated by American Airlines, since midnight.
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), which manages the airport, assured passengers that they were working closely with airlines and Air Traffic Control (ATC) to minimise disruptions. In a post on social media platform X, DIAL advised passengers to contact their respective airlines for updated flight information and alternative travel arrangements.
The cancellations followed missile strikes by the Indian military as part of Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, including key strongholds of militant groups Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport, which handles around 1,300 flights daily, was operating under altered conditions due to the airspace changes prompted by the military operations.
