New Delhi: Following the dismissal of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawan from service for allegedly keeping his marriage to a Pakistan national a secret, the Jawan has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for justice.

The dismissed Jawan Munir Ahmed, recently married Minal Khan of Pakistan citizenship, appealed to Modi that he was wronged. He told Asian News International that the reasons mentioned in his dismissal order, such as that he did not inform authorities about his marriage and let his wife overstay in India even after her visa expired, are not true. He said he had proof that he followed proper channels and attached documents.

Munir had married Minal through a video conference on May 24 last year after a relationship started between them. He says that he informed CRPF authorities about the wedding in October last year, and Menal came to India via the Wagah-Attari border in February last and started living with him.

When her 15-day visa expired in March, they applied for a long-term visa, but a month later, the Indian government cracked down on Pakistani nationals in India over the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people in Kashmir. Minal Khan reached the brink of deportation, but the intervention of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court saved her from that.

However, on Saturday, Munir was terminated from service.

Munir told ANI that he was on leave after his wife arrived in February, but he rejoined duty on March 23. He informed CRPF about his marriage and submitted a copy of her visa, informing the force that he had applied for a long-term visa for her. But he was suddenly transferred to Bhopal when he was supposed to complete his posting in Jammu and Kashmir in 2027, he said.

He said that he was shocked about his dismissal, and he wanted to appeal to PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, saying that he wanted justice as a Jawan.

Meanwhile, CRPF officials said that Munir was dismissed because his actions were a violation of service and detrimental to national security. According to reports, he was dismissed under rules that do not require conducting an inquiry.
