New Delhi: In response to requests for a new date for the Mizoram vote count, the Election Commission (EC) declared on Friday that it had moved the original December 3 schedule to December 4.

The poll panel stated in a press release that it had received multiple requests to move the date of counting from Sunday, December 3, to another weekday since Sunday has "special significance for the people of Mizoram."

“The Commission, having considered these representations, has decided to revise the date of counting for the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Mizoram from December 3 to December 4,” the poll panel said.

The EC had earlier fixed December 3 for the counting of votes for the Assembly elections of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana.

The counting of votes in the remaining states will be held as scheduled.
